SharePoint 2010 Easy Setup Fails with "Filter Pack install bits not found, exiting..." for use with Windows 2012 RDS/VDI Server

I am using the SharePoint 2010 Easy Setup to install onto a Windows Server 2012 RDS/VDI server for use by developers in conjuction with Visual Studio 2010 as remoteapps.

I begin by exectuting the command "change user mode /install" at a command prompt. This allow the installation of software for use as remoteapps with RDS/VDI server. Then I run the Easy Setup Run.bat as administrator. The Easy Setup returns quickly with this?in the window and log file:

Extracting SharePoint Server 2010 bits for Windows Client Install
?Successfully extracted SharePoint Server 2010 bits for Windows Client Install

Installing Pre-Reqs required for SharePoint 2010 windows client install
??Filter Pack install bits not found, exiting...

I have tried downloading the Filter Pack and putting it in the Easy Setup path. I have also tried installing the Filter Pack which installs successfully and still returns the same results.

How can I get this to install successfully?
